What does Elvis Presley mean to you? Did you ever see him in concert? Did you ever meet Elvis? Been to Graceland? Have every known Elvis song on your iPod? Submit a video telling your Elvis story for possible inclusion in the Smithsonian website [online show/online collection] accompanying the travelling exhibition Elvis at 21, Photographs by Alfred Wertheimer. 

Selected videos will be added to the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service’s YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/sitesExhibitions) and its home website (www.sites.si.edu/elvisVideos)

RULES:
Submit your video by June 30, 2010 telling us your Elvis Presley story. To make your submission, log on to http://www.youtube.com/user/sitesExhibitions and post a video response to the “Call for Entries ” request by exhibition co-curator Chris Murray. Submissions must be made via YouTube.

Video may depict an individual or group. Videos must not exceed one minute in length; no audio-only submissions will be accepted. Limit one (1) video entry per person.Do not submit a video more than once. All videos in excess of this limit will be ineligible.

Videos may not be: sexually explicit or suggestive, unnecessarily violent, profane or pornographic, discriminatory (based on race, sex, religion, natural origin, physical disability, sexual orientation or age), illegal (e.g. underage drinking, substance abuse, computer hacking, etc.), offensive, threatening, profane, or harassing.  Videos should not violate any law or contain material that violates or infringes another's rights, including privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights. 

By submitting your video you:

  • warrant and represent that your submission is your own original work and does not infringe the copyright, privacy, or other proprietary rights of any third party; and 
  • grant the Smithsonian non-exclusive rights to post your video on the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service’s website and in any other publication on the same or similar topic, and in its catalogue and other promotional materials, in book form and in all other mediums and technologies now known or hereinafter developed, including all revisions, translations and future editions throughout the world; and
  • grant the Smithsonian non-exclusive rights to use the video for all other standard museum purposes including but not limited to exhibition, archival, educational, and promotional purposes; and
  • grant the Smithsonian permission to use your name in association with the video; and
  • represent and warrant that in making the video you have not violated any law or included material that violates or infringes another's rights, including privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights; and
  • represent and warrant that videos were not filmed in locations where photography or filming is restricted, such as the Elvis at 21 exhibit galleries

This call for entries is open to all legal U.S. residents who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry. Employees and trustees of the Smithsonian, their immediate families and people, and living in their households, are also eligible.

Submissions will be reviewed and selected on a rolling basis based on volume by Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service staff. The Smithsonian will select from among all eligible submissions for inclusion in its website according to the following criteria:
Overall appeal of journal account
Originality of journal account
Relation to exhibition content
The Smithsonian reserves the right to not select any videos in its sole discretion. Decisions of the Smithsonian will be final and binding.
