A Magic Web: The Tropical Forest of Barro Colorado Island Programming Ideas The University of Northern Iowa Museums held several successful programs: A family "Bat Day," a tropical treats reception (with products from the rainforests), a tropical birds presentation, a presentation about the history of the Panama Canal, the "A-Z Institute: E Day, Exploring Ecosystems, and an eco-tourism presentation. The Spartanburg County Public Libraries hosted naturalist and University of South Carolina professor (School of the Environment) Rudy Mancke, who discussed the concept of an ecosystem using the exhibit as a starting point.
