Becoming American: Teenagers and Immigration

I miss Ukraine and nature. In my village, it's an old custom that everyone helps to plant apple trees. We all worked in the field and then everyone in the village can pick and enjoy the apples. Is it true that you can't pick apples from the trees here? I live here four months. No one in my family speaks English, so I work hard to learn.
