Rural China
Many of Liu’s photographs provide a “picturesque” version of rural life and work. By concentrating on people, work, and traditional objects of labor, the artist constructs a mythology of the simple cares of rural life. He is interested in the specific moments that glorify the time-honored traditions of working the land by hand.
